43rd Annual CMA Awards!!!
Wednesday started off as an ordinary day for me. I woke up, went to class, attended a meeting, and then proceeded to stand on some red carpet. No big deal. Pfffft, totally a big deal, it was the CMA Red Carpet that I stood on and I really want to talk about it to you! Basically, my job was to be one of those people, dressed all in black that you see with the artist when they are being interviewed by the Media. I was in charge of escorting the artists down the carpet and getting them interviews with as many media outlets that I possibly could. Seems pretty easy, right? Thats what I thought until I walked in for the first time. The Red Carpet was PACKED with people and it seemed like every media outlet was already in the process of interviewing someone. Not to mention all artists that I listen to and idolize. Ohmygosh, Martina McBride, Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan, Carrie Underwood, Sugarland, The Judds, Barbara Mandrell and Taylor Swift just to name a few. But dont worry, I kept my cool and made it down the Red Carpet twice!
My next stop was the Award show itself! My heart was literally pounding out of my chest with excitement when I looked down and saw the ticket in my hand for the first time. I started shaking, mainly due to the cold, but also due to the shear giddiness of actually being able to watch it in the Sommet Center. I had never been to the CMA Awards before, so I didnt know what to expect all I knew was that it was going to be great! Turns out, I was wrong. Great is an understatement, the awards exceeded great and went on to hit the-best-show-I-have-even-been-to status!!!
Hosts Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley did such an amazing job!!! You never know what they are going to say, or sing for that matter. I thought that the song about Brooks & Dunn getting a divorce was the best and I was laughing so hard for such a long time still am, actually. And speaking of Brooks & Dunn, how about Kix Brooks taking home National Radio Personality of the Year! How cool it that I get to work with a CMA Award winner! Really, every performer did such an excellent job. The Zac Brown Band with their performance of The Devil Went Down to Georgia received a standing ovation, as well as Martinas tribute to Barbara Mandrell with her performance of I Was Country When Country Wasnt Cool. Another performance that really stuck out to me was Daughtry and Vince Gill with their song Tennessee Line. Its such a beautiful and sweet sounding song that I had to rewind my DVR recording of the show to watch it when I got home.
My first CMA Award show experience is something that I will never forget and I hope you all enjoyed watching it as much as I enjoyed being there!
